Urban Impact offers many vocal music opportunities for our students. The program list includes Urban Impact Middle School/High School Choir, Urban Impact Children’s Choir, Urban Impact Singers, Musical Theatre.
Children’s Choir 100
As members of the children’s choir, students learn and perform worship songs while practicing teamwork
and dependability. Each student is placed in a small group with volunteers who provide individualized vocal attention and instruction. Veteran students have the opportunity to audition for a solo in the Children’s Choir Voice Group.
Children’s Choir Voice 101
3rd – 5th Grade
Fall/Spring, Thursdays 4:30pm-6:00pm

Children’s Choir students who are selected for the Voice Group receive ear training and learn to match pitch, harmonize, and sing melodies. The Voice Group students audition for solos to perform alongside the Children’s Choir.
Urban Impact Choir 200
Middle School & High School Fall/Spring, Tuesdays 6:00pm-8:30pm

The basics of ear training, which include rhythm, harmony and melody, are developed in this performance-based choir. The UI Choir has been featured at Heinz Hall, ManUp Pittsburgh, and on PBS. The importance of dependability, self-control, tolerance & Christ-like love is emphasized throughout the choir season.
Singers 101 is a group for middle school students interested in vocal performance. Members of this select vocal group are chosen in the summer and are required to audition. Students should have at least one year of experience in the UI Choir or UI Children’s Choir. Singers 101 curriculum focuses on the fundamentals of reading music notation, vocal technique and beginning harmony. Students explore the scriptural meaning of worship and how they can use their talents to glorify God.

The Urban Impact Singers is an advanced discipleship program geared toward young instrumentalists and vocalists in Urban Impact programs who exhibit the potential for leadership. This invitation-only group meets on Tuesdays in the fall and spring to grow in the areas
of music education, spiritual formation, and leadership development. It is also expected that these students will attend the Urban Impact Choir on Tuesdays following the Urban Impact Singers rehearsals.
Musical Theatre 202
This high-power course covers vocals, dance, and character development as part of the acting experience. Students are prepared for their Spring Musicals and Arts Showcase. Audition and acting techniques are reinforced as our instructors build on the basic framework of Acting 201.
